Privacy & your information

Last updated 16 August 2026 · SLATE is run from Victoria, Australia

The short version

SLATE is a private film pre-production tool. Your name and email are used to run your account and nothing else. Nothing is sold, nothing is shared outside the workspace, and there are no ads or tracking companies involved. Ever.

Who we are

SLATE is run privately from Victoria, Australia, and is used by people we invite (you need a join code and an admin’s approval to get in). We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect, and why

That’s the lot. There are no analytics trackers, no ad networks, and we never sell or trade anyone’s information.

Who can see what

Where it lives

Everything is stored in a database on our own server, run by us — not spread across third-party platforms. The one outside service involved is our email provider (smtp2go), which passes on the emails SLATE sends — approval notes, password resets and the like — the same way any email service does.

Questions or complaints

Talk to a workspace admin first — they can fix most things on the spot. If you’re not happy with how something was handled, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

If this statement changes, we’ll say so in What’s new on the Home page.
